In this work, a switched capacitor based Trans-Impedance Amplifier (TIA) for a glucose sensor readout circuit is designed and tested. The proposed circuit has several advantages when compared to a conventional TIA using a feedback resistor such as lower power consumption, smaller layout area and better noise characteristics. The total layout area of the circuit is 160 μm × 157 μm when using 0.35 μm CMOS fabrication technology. The total power consumption of the proposed circuit is 1.335 mW at a clock frequency of 200 Hz, which is 84% lower than that of a single-ended potentiostat. Also, it achieves 1.3 mV_(rms) noise, which is 48% lower than that of a fully differential potentiostat design.
