Clyde Bergemann Materials Handling Limited, heating and reaction surface cleaning, is set to provide Dahai Power Generation Ltd of China with two large (600 MW) Dry Ash Conveyor Systems (DRYCON). This represents the first contract for the power group in China. The 'DRYCON' system extracts bottom ash from coal-fired boilers using a dry mechanical solution eliminating the need for water treatment. Consequently, the company states, this prevents corrosion and therefore extends the life of the boilers. In addition, the non use of water will also lead to a reduction in maintenance and operational costs and will also provide additional space both inside and outside of the plant, Bergemann explains.
