Preparation of lanthanum zirconate nano-powders by Molten Salts method

Pyrochlore La2Zr2O7 nano-powders with cubic structure have been firstly prepared by Molten Salts method. These nano-powders were prepared at a relatively low temperature using La(NO3)(3)center dot 6H(2)O and ZrOCl2 center dot 8H(2)O as raw materials, as well as K2SO4 (anhydrous) and Na2SO4 (anhydrous) as molten salts and dispersant. XRD, SEM and TEM were used to characterize the composition, morphology, size of prepared products. It is found that the average size of La2Zr2O7 powders ranges from 60 nm to 90 nm. The reactive time on the preparation of lanthanum zirconate nano-powders was also studied.
