Spectroscopic investigations of Er3+ in H3BO3-Na2CO3-RCl glasses

摘要

The optical properties of Er3+ doped 80H(3)BO(3)-10Na(2)CO(3)-10RCl (R = Na, K, Li, Zn and Pb) glasses have been measured. From the optical absorption measurements and using Judd-Ofelt theory, the Judd-Ofelt parameters, Omega(2), Omega(4) and Omega(6), have been calculated. Measured oscillator strengths (f(means)) for various energy levels are compared with calculated values (f(cal)) and are in reasonable agreement. The position of the absorption edge and hence the values of optical band gaps are reported for five compositions. The predicted radiative transition probabilities (A), radiative lifetimes (tau(R)), branching ratios (beta) and integrated absorption cross sections (Sigma) for the excited states (4)G(11/2), F-4(5/2), F-4(7/2), S-1(3/2), F-4(3/2), I-4(9/2), I-4(11/2) and I-4(3/2) of Er3+ in different chloroborate glasses are reported.
