Spectral characterisation and electrochemical investigation of some divalent transition metal complexes of di(4-fluorophenyl)carbazone

摘要

The complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II) and Pd(II) with di(4-fluorophenyl)carbazone (D4FPC) have been synthesised and characterised by elemental analyses, magnetic moment measurements, IR, ~1H NMR, UV-vis, and EPR spectral studies. The results show that D4FPC behaves as a bidentate monoanionic ligand coordinating through O and N donor atoms and forms 1:2 (metal-ligand) stoichiometry. The electrochemical reduction of Cu(II) complex has been studied on a glassy carbon electrode in non aqueous media using tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (Bu_4NClO_4) as a supporting electrolyte. The redox properties are discussed from the voltammetric measurements.
