There is nothing in 23 years of nursing practice that can adequately prepare you to open a new orthopaedic surgical hospital.My adventure began in August 2003 when I became the Director of Patient and Staff Education for what was to be The New Albany Surgical Hospital. Scheduled to open in January 2004, the hospital was planned to be 42 beds specialising in a full range of orthopaedic and neuro-orthopaedic surgeries including total hip and knee replacements, spinal fusions, laminectomies, discectomies, sports medicine and pain management procedures.
