Wagner: Today we will be discussing long-term follow-up in patients with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). How soon do you like to see an infant who had stage 1 or 2 ROP but reached near complete vascularization during the hospital stay and was discharged? In other words, the child never needed treatment but was improving as you expected.Reynolds: If a child had two consecutive zone III examinations or had total temporal vascularization in the hospital, I'd consider the risk negligible. So I'd treat that patient with 6- to 12-month follow-ups.
