The 2009 american society of anesthesiologists' (ASA) Annual Meeting was held from October 17-21, 2009, in New Orleans, Louisiana. A total of 15,735 members and nonmembers were present including anesthesiologists, nursing colleagues, nonmember presenters, and exhibitors. ASPAN was well represented with President Theresa Clifford, Vice President/President Elect Kim Kraft, and ASPAN CEO Kevin Dill, who attended the ASA programs, talked with visitors to the exhibit booth, and represented ASPAN at the Anesthesia Care Team meeting. ASPAN President Clifford also participated in a panel discussion titled "A Global Approach to Patient Care: Increasing the Effectiveness of the Perioperative Team." As ASPAN's liaison to the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF), I was able to attend several meetings including the Board of Directors meeting and the Committee on Education and Training.
