摘要

A finite volume method is presented to analyze the fission gas release from UO2 fuel during Light Water Reactor normal or off-normal operations, the latter being limited to Class-II type incidents. The model assumes gas diffusion inside a spherical grain under time-varying conditions. It also uses a time-varying imperfect sink condition at the grain boundary due to the accumulation of gas by irradiation-induced re-solution. The onset of gas release occurs due to the saturation of the gas amount in the grain boundaries. The problem is efficiently solved by a fast numerical technique which uses finite volumes, well-suited for application in fuel rod analyses computer codes. [References: 29]
