摘要

Thank you for the two letters that appeared in Clinics in Dermatology by Drs. Cohen, Kurzrock, Levin, Parish, and Zwelling. These letters and the publishing thereof helped in the cause and led eventually to the final release of Dr. Cyril Karabus on May 18, 2013. I, the attorney acting on behalf of the Karabus family, realized quite early on that the farce that was the law in Abu Dhabi would grind very slowly. I clearly envisaged a situation in which a physician was guilty until proven innocent. In essence, within certain jurisdictions the law is inappropriate. In conjunction with the family and a few trusted friends, we made a decision to use public opinion via the media and political connections to have the case heard both as quickly as possible and as fairly as possible. After many interventions and hundreds of letters and telephone calls to the press, our efforts began to bear results.
