Most people believe that they can write a book. And, most of them probably can. The difficult part in writing a book, any book, is not lacking the desire to write the book. The difficulty is actually writing the book. Just as we all see an interesting patient and ponder reporting our observations to the medical cognoscenti, the problem is to find the time and energy to do our due diligence-write the report. In ways, it's like going to work. It is relatively easy to go to work when you feel like it. The necessary discipline is coming to work when you do not feel like it. That is why they call it "work."
