摘要

Purpose: To discuss a case of zygomycosis in a 71-year-old woman with diabetes. An overview of the prevalence and pathogenesis of the disorder, clinical diagnosis, and treatment are presented. Data sources: Case report, diagnostic evidence, and scientific literature. Conclusions: Zygomycosis is a rare but serious and often fatal fungal infection more common in patients with a history of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. Rapid treatment with amphotericin B and supportive care are essential in the care of individuals with zygomycosis. Implications for practice: Practitioners should know about zygomycosis because the diagnosis is frequently missed and early and aggressive treatment is imperative.
