摘要

In this paper the Statistical Energy Analysis(SEA) Method and Finite Element Method was used to estimate the amount of vibrational energy generated by the main engine on board ship that is transmitted to the nearby structures and the surrounding water. Finite element method was used to estimate the coupling loss factor between subsystems for use in the SEA model to predict the structural response. The purpose of combining these two methods is to avoid the restriction in using SEA, that is, it can only he used when the modal density is high, i.e., in higher frequency ranges, whereas the combined model applies to medium frequency ranges. A model of an engine room section was built to conduct experiments on vibrational energy transmission into adjacent structures and water. Finally, the results from the experiments and theoretical predictions were compared to check the validity of the proposed theory.
