摘要

This paper presents the study of effect of non-linear behaviour of lubricant on the performance characteristics of a constant flow valve compensated four-pocket flexible journal. The generalized Reynolds equation governing the lubricant flow in the clearance space and the three-dimensional elasticity equations governing the displacement field in the bearing shell have been solved using finite element method and iterative procedure. The non- Newtonian lubricant model is assumed to follow the cubic shear stress law (τ + k τ{sup}3 = γ). Bearing performance characteristics have been presented for a wide range of values of non-linearity factor (K) and for a wide range of values of deformation coefficient (C{sub}d) which takes into account the flexibility of the bearing shell. It has been observed that the non-linearity factor (K) influences the performance characteristics quite significantly.
