The regime of continuous calcination of Listvyanka anthracite in an electric calcining kiln has been worked out and implemented. The electrode paste produced with a complete replacement of blast-furnace coke with calcined Listvyanka anthracite fully satisfies the specification requirements. The following indices were improved: the mechanical tensile strength increased by 4.6 percent and the electrical decreased by a factor of 22.2 percent.The manufacture of the electrode paste without using blast-furnace coke requires an increase of the degree of calcination of anthracite, which provides its electrical resistivity of < 1000 #mu#ohm centre dot m.
