摘要

A chromium(III) complex of long-chain Schiff base N,N'-hexamethylenebis(salicylideneimine), salhex, has been synthesised. Molecular mechanics calculations predict a trans-diaquo structure for the complex, which is corraborated by its infrared spectral data. The chain-length of the Schiff base ligand has been shown to influence the electrochemical behavior of the corresponding chromium(III) complex as well as the stability of higher oxidation state of chromium.
