Analysis of the dependence of the index E_(pm) on the load for heavy-media hydrocyclones of various sizes and modifications (two- and three-product hydrocyclones of diameters 150, 500 and 750 mm) has demonstrated the steady character of the curves, which is called "load stability" by the authors. New perspectives are open for the wide application of heavy-media hydrocyclones with respect to nominal (certificate) and much higher loads.The efficiency of separation of the material as a function of coal size for centrifugal processes studied is described by the following relation:E_(pm) =Ad~(-0.3)The dependence of the efficiency of coal cleaning on the separation density has the form of a curve of "load stability"; its character substantially depends on the design of the hydrocyclone (the shape of the separation chamber), which plays an essential role in the choice of the operating regime of the vessel (in the zone of low or high separation density).Upon separation of coals with a high content of close-density fractions (from 10 to 80 percent) there is observed a considerable amount of the concentrate together with the thickened product. In order to reduce the loss of the concentrate, use should be made of hydrocyclones with devices for the recleaning of the thickened product, which makes it possible to increase the yield of the concentrate and to reduce its ash content (for example, use should be made of hydrocyclones with an annular shelf).
