The composition of polyaromatic hydrocarbons liberated at different carbonization rates of coal pitch in an inert atmosphere is studied. The benz[α]pyrene equivalent is calculated. It is shown that reducing the carbonization rate increases the emissions of carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons.
