A UV-Vis spectrophotometry study of the adduct formation of M~(II)(salabza), M~(II)(5-OMe-salabza), M~(II)(5-Br-salabza) and M~(II)(5-NO2-salabza) (where M = Co, Cu and salabza-H2 = N,N'-bis(salicylidene)-2-aniinobenzylamine) as donor with Me2SnCl2, Ph2SnCI2, n-Bu2SnCl2 and Ph4Sn as acceptor has been investigated in DMF. Formation constants and Gibbs free energies were measured for 1 : 1 adduct at 25 °C. The data refinement was carried out with the SQUAD 84 program. The trend of formation constants of metal Schiff base complex with organotin(IV) compounds follows the order : [M(S-OMc-salabza)] > [M(salabza)] > [M(5-Br-salabza)] > [M(5-NO2-salabza)] Co > Cu Me2SnCl2 > Ph2SnCI2 > n-Bu2SnCI2 > Ph4Sn
