摘要

Yield, being a complex character, needs careful study covering the aspects which contribute towards high yield potential in cotton. Boll number and boll weight are major component of yield. Several studies revealed the utility of combining ability analysis in cotton in predicting the prepotency of the parents on the basis of the genetic information gathered (Marani, 1964; Miller and Lee, 1964; Singh et al., 1969; Singh and Singh, 1978). Hence the present investigation was carried out to provide information on combining ability effects vis-a-vis formulation of effective breeding methodology.
