摘要

In the first part of this paper, it has been reported that the air-jet spun cotton yarn, in its present state, is weaker compared with similar ring spun yarn. Although the former can be used as weft and knitting yam, strength of the yam should be improved to make it suitable as warp in weaving.In this second part, factors of fibre quality influencing the strength and spinnability of air-jet spun yam are analysed and discussed. The surface structures of such yams in contrast with conventional ring yarn were studied with Scanning Electron Microscope. It is concluded that fibre elongation and strength are the two most important factors influencing the production of stronger and finer air-jet yam.
