摘要

Common, Prairie, and Texoka buffalograss (Buchloe dactyloides) were compared with TexTurf 10 bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) for turf quality and root-length density in trials on a fine to sandy loam at Lubbock, Texas. Irrigation was applied at 0, 25 or 50 cm/year during 1993 and 1994. Turf quality was similar in the 2 irrigated treatments and better in these than in the unirrigated treatment. Turf quality was highest for bermudagrass but high quality required plentiful irrigation to keep the top 15 cm of soil moist. Texoka and Common buffalograss roots tended to proliferate deep within the soil when irrigation was limited.
