摘要

The delivery route for coffee and cocoa is global in scale. Whether it is cocoa from Ghana or coffee from Peru, the complex task of transporting commodities and transferring ownership creates special challenges for all participants along the supply line, but in eCOPS, its new, Electronic Commodity Operations and Processing System, the Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange (CSCE) at the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) has created a web-based system that is transforming the entire process. The domestic coffeemarket in the US generates approximately 60,000 transactions in a year, and the cocoa market produces about 48,000 transactions. Each coffee transaction involves some 59 documents. Based upon World Trade Organization (WTO) global estimates of the overall documentation costs for all international trade, the annual cost of shipping documentation for the US coffee market is about US70 million dollar and nearly US280 million dollar for the global market, so the need to rationalise and enhanced the efficiency of the process was obvious.
