The Mondelez International/DE Master Blenders 1753 deal was announced I in May, and will see them combine their respective coffee businesses, creating a coffee company with annual revenues of more than US$7 billion. This equates to a market share of around 16 per cent compared with market leader Nestle's 23 per cent share.Jacobs Douwe Egberts, as the new company will be known, will be based in The Netherlands, and will hold leading market positions in more than two dozen countries and have a strong emerging market presence, giving it significant revenue synergy opportunities in the US$81 billion global coffee category.
