Although the prospects of recovery now seem much brighter than they did a few months ago, with several nations even announcing that they expected to exit recession in the third/fourth quarters of 2009, recession has undoubtedly taken a tighter grip onworld markets, including the market for goods such as chocolate. This had led inexorably to a decline in cocoa grindings, in turn a consequence of stagnant overall growth in chocolate demand, with premium priced high cocoa-content chocolate being especially badly hit.
