Our Society officially honors sages in transcultural nursing by creating a ritualized pathway to membership and a forum for their storytelling. New scholars must pass cultural tests to achieve membership among the sages, demonstrating expertise in transcultural nursing theory, research, and practice. Scholars-who-are-Sages have a special job: They transmit our group's cultural values and serve as mentors to neophytes. As prescribed by our annual calendar, the Transcultural Nursing Scholars met during the 2013 Transcultural Nursing Society meeting in Albuquerque. What a fitting place to bring together sages and celebrate storytelling.
