Bacteria play an important role as a direct feed source for herbivorous zooplankton and can contribute to the nutritional value of Artemia feeds by being a major source of protein, vitamins essential amino acids, fatty acids, and enzymes (Marques et al, 2004).Heat shock proteins (HSP) are known as molecular chaperones, which are produced by prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Previous studies showed that HSP70 and DnaK protein (the bacterial HSP70 homologue) were associated with protection against virulent vibrios and improve the survival of Artemia challenged with Vibrio campbellii (VC) in axenic conditions (Sung, et al., 2008; Baruah, et al., 2010; Wang, et al., 2010).The general aim of this experiment is to investigate whether some of these bacterial strains influence the HSP70 content of instar II Artemia nauplii.
