Since the first conference held in 1970, the Hydrotransport conference series has been the premier international forum for the presentation and peer review of developments in hydrotransport technology. The 17th conference, co-hosted by the SAIMM and the United Kingdom's BHR Group, continued this tradition with 43 technical papers covering coarse particle flows, rheology, laminar flow settling, turbulent flow of non-Newtonian slurries, slurry pump performance evaluation and computational fluid dynamics. The conference, held at the BOE conference centre in Cape Town's Waterfront, was well attended with 146 delegates representing 19 countries participating in the proceedings. The conference was supported by six patron sponsors and eight ordinary sponsors. Ten of the sponsors had exhibition stands.
