The recommended process enables recovery of copper down to 110 ppm Cu in the raffinate. The value of 150 ppm is recommended for design purposes. To achieve this result, the feed to SX-2 should contain not more than 6.5 git Cu and 10 g/e acid, at pH=1.5-2.0 The raffinate of both the roaster and the Cosac PLS can be extracted down to 6.5 git Cu, using two stages of MS. The acidity of the raffinate is about 50 g/e H_2SO_4. The stripping caused no problems; and two stages will be able to strip all the copper within the range set by the designers.
