摘要

This extremely illuminating and helpful article helps both practitioners and researchers appraise both health policy and the research literature linked to sociopsychological and cultural aspects of ethnicity, dementia and dementia care. The rationale for a better understanding of ethnicity, dementia and dementia care is clearly defined by the author highlighting population demographics, the change in policy drivers within the UK National Health Service (NHS) to more 'culturally sensitive care' and the current limitations and challenges of research in this field. The article addresses sensitive and complex issues around ethnicity in a thoughtful, measured and practical way. This is most helpful as these issues can be blighted by political correctness, oversimplification and ill thought well meaning.
