What does and will the new digital technology mean to various tasks of conventional film archives? Introducing the issues raised by the members of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) for the last seven years, this short eassay examines the prospects and problems in applying digital technology to film archiving, particularly in the field of preservation and restoration.
