摘要

The suitability of 31 species of plant belonging to 14 families, including cultivated and wild plants, as food plants for larvae of Pantomorus cervinus was determined. Larvae fed on the roots of 30 species in 13 families and developed into pupae, prepupae or larvae about 100 days after hatching. The number of oviposited eggs per female on Arachis hypogaea (groundnuts), Rubus sp., Fragaria ananassa, Citrus natsudaidai and Arctium lappa was 1238, 1004, 860, 416 and 312, respectively. Adult longevityon the same plants was 136, 116, 92, 86, 80 days, respectively. The greater the longevity of adults the greater the number of eggs oviposited per female. The number of eggs oviposited per female and adult longevity were influenced by the food plant on which adults fed rather than on the larval food plant.
