A new natural hybrid, Schoenoplectiella ^naritaensis, is described. Schoenoplectiella hotarui (Ohwi) Jung & H. K. Choi and S. mucronata (し)Pal la var. tatarana (Honda) Yashiro, proposed as a new combination here, are presumed to be the putative parents. Schoenoplectiella ^naritaensis was found in idle paddy fields in Narita-shi, Chiba Prefecture, central Honshu, Japan. The hybrid is intermediate in significant characters between the putative parents and shows much lower pollen stainability.
