The pollination of seven annual species of the genus Medicago (M. lupulina, M. orbicularis, M. radiata, M. arabica, M. intertexta, M. scutellata and M. turbinata) was studied. The autogamy in annual Medicago species occurred either by means of autotripping in chasmogamous flowers or by means of a special form of bud cleistogamy. Chasmogamous and cleistogamous flowers were formed on the same plant and even on the same inflorescence. The capacity for bud cleistogamy differed among species. The maturepollen and the pollen tubes at the onset of their formation were found in the green buds. The high fertility of the pollen was noted.
