The vanadium(V)--4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol-hydrogen peroxide system was studied for the development of an optical sensor for vanadium. Vanadium(V) was adsorbed on the solid phase of a fibrous material filled with AB-17 anion exchanger from a weakly acidic solution containing hydrogen peroxide. Next, it was determined with 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol by diffuse reflection spectroscopy. The limit of detection is 0.5 #mu#g/L. A procedure for determining vanadium in fresh water was developed.
