Trade interdependence among Japan, China, and Korea has been growing (DRC et al"2007). In order to promote trade liberalization, in November 2012, Japan, China, and Korea announced the launch of negotiations for a Japan-China-Korea Free Trade Agreement (JCKFTA) (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, 2012). A concern is that the JCKFTA may result in a changed environmental impact from agriculture among the member countries. For example, water pollution caused by nutrient leaching such as nitrogen andphosphorus may come about due to different crop fertilizers and livestock manure under the JCKFTA.There have been a few previous studies on the environmental impact caused by FTAs between Japan and other countries (e.g., Yamamoto et al" 2009; Tsuge et al" 2011; Akahori et al" 2012; Liu et al" 2012). Ofthese studies, Akahori et al. (2012) and Liu et al. (2012) focus on environmental impact caused by the JCKFTA, measuring the agricultural nitrogen balance for Japan and Korea under JCKFTA and determining China's environmental impact on the JCKFTA, respectively.
