摘要

We have developed an automatic rearing machine of the silkworm, Bombyx mori, which is necessary for production of useful materials using silkworm-baculovector system. We designed multi-layer rotational type rearing machine, which contained a total of 12 trays with 6 trays each piled up vertically in anterior and posterior columns, and amaximum of 20,000 fifth instar larvae can be raised by artificial diet. An automated operating system was designed for the rearing machine, composed of position sensor, programmable controller and a personal computer to develop and implement of.the control program. Validation of the automated operating function of the rearing machine allowed us to confirm that the program prepared was useful for the following functions: (1) input and modification of the operating schedule, (2) displaying the operation schedule, (3) automatic operation and displaying the operation mode. When the operating schedule based on the rearing plan is entered into the system program, the rearing machine can be automatically operated. Hence, we found a possibility for controlling the automatic operation of the rearing machnie.
