The study was conducted mainly to determine the biodiversity of woody species along altitudinal gradients on Mt. Mayon National Park, Bicol Peninsula, southern Luzon, Philippines, presently subjected to intensive human activity such as fuelwood gathering, swidden farming and wild plant collecting. Fifteen sampling sites were determined representing various patches throughout the altitudinal range of Mt. Mayon, after a reconnaissance survey and consultation with DENR officials and plant collectors.
