Rose cultivars Anna and Sari were propagated from cuttings or by grafting on Rosa indica [R. chinensis] rootstocks and grown in raised benches filled with a 4:1 sand:peat mixture. They were fed with a commercial fertilizer solution with an expectedleaching fraction of 0.1. Cut flowers were harvested for 18 months and yields of Class 1 flowers were higher (18.9 and 14.6 flowers/plant in Anna and Sari, respectively) from grafted plants than from those raised from cuttings (12.4 and 11.6 flowers/plant, respectively). Marketable yields and flower quality were also greater from grafted plants. In Sari plants propagated from cuttings primary shoot development was poor after cutting back in July.
