One of the many challenges for Honey-crisp growers is the susceptibility of this cultivar to fruit rot pathogens, both in the field and after harvest. In northeastern North America, the most common fruit rots during summer are black rot, white rot, and bitter rot, fungal diseases that are caused by Botryosphaeria obtu-sa, B. dothidea, and Colletotricum species, respectively.
