An Interdomain Overlay Network Based on ISP Alliance

摘要

Recent research found that the standard interdomain routing protocol in today's Internet, BGP, is not optimal in end-to-end performance metrics, due to both technical and economic reasons. We therefore propose an interdomain overlay network based on ISP alliance. For the ISP alliance, we introduce interdomain overlay routing and corresponding charging systems which are different from BGP. With our proposal, not only interdomain routing performance can be improved, but also ISPs' economic interests can be optimized. We also give the method for ISPs in the ISP alliance to obtain the optimal prices which can maximize their revenue. With numerical experiments, we show the correctness and convergence of the pricing method.
