摘要

Alexander von Humboldt (14 September 1769 - 6 May 1859) was one of the great nineteenth century explorer/scientists. His contributions were especially in Latin America. Among many other contributions to science, he, with colleague Aime Bonpland, introduced two species of Guadua to the botanic world (under the genus name Bambusa as B. guadua and B. latifolia, now Guadua angustifolia and Guadua latifolia).
