Analytical results of calculation methods for strength characteristics in cathode units of aluminium electrolyzers, using computer-aided simulation, are presented. Strength calculation of the shell with preset loads shows qualitatively correctly on relatively high percent of ductility areas in such shell elements as side sheet and support ribs, because this method correlates with calculation results via adjusted technique (when loads are defined directly during calculation). As concerns strengthening elements of front walls (front belts and their shelves), in this case simplified approach leads to severely decreased results.
