Air and dust samples were taken from the exhibition and storage halls both in air-conditioned and non-conditioned area. 67 micromycetes species from 29 genera were identified. The most frequently isolated genera were Penicillium, Aspergillus and Cladosporium. The frequency of occurrence of the most species was low, except Penicillium aurantiogriseum var. aurantiogriseum. The airborne fungal counts varied from 13-17 (in air-conditioned area) to 124-223 CFU/m(3) (in non-conditioned area). We have come to the conclusion that the level of contamination of the museum buildings is low.
