Extremely complex soil cover patterns composed of the soils differing by the degrees of hydromorphism, gleyzation, salinity, and erosion are described in the southeastern part of Donetsk Ridge. These patterns develop on steppe slopes under unirrigated croplands in the areas affected by the discharge of saline groundwater. Specific features of soil miorocombinations in such areas and the main flows of substances leading to the differentiation of the soil cover are considered. On this basis, a forecast of the further development of the territory is given.
