With a new year come renewed commitments to losing weight, saving money, quitting smoking - and lowering oxides of nitrogen (NO_x) emissions in Canada. The Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) had given working groups until Dec. 31, 2011, to draft recommendations targeting NO_x, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic compounds and total particulate matter from certain industrial sectors and types of combustion equipment.
