Ever since mass digitization appeared, thanks to Google, the innovation cycle in the library market has been accelerating and behaving much more similar to the high-tech marketplace at large. This is a good trend because it demonstrates that library vendors are willing to innovate and are adjusting to rapid product life cycles. Indeed, it is a good trend for everyone, as library vendors have deep pockets; ultimately, we must look to them as leaders in innovation.
