A study was made of the effects of diamide on deformability and La3+-induced aggregation and fusion of human erythrocytes. Treatment of human erythrocytes with diamide decreased their deformability and almost completely inhibited cell fusion. Diamide-treated erythrocytes did not differ from intact cells in the ability to aggregate in the presence of La~(3+).
