摘要

Many people probably believe that Connecticut, the silicon valley of the 19th century, home of the Insurance City after that, a perennial top-five richest state in the union, and one of the most densely populated areas in the country, could not stillbe home to a forest-based economy. And they would be wrong. Here are three numbers from a 2015 report by the North East State Foresters Association, "The Economic Importance of Connecticut's Forest Based Economy"1 to consider: Acreage of Connecticut forests: 1,799,342. Forests cover 56 percent of the state. Oak/hickory forests compose more than 72 percent of that forest cover.
