摘要

To investigate the change of root architecture (RA) parameters and nutrient uptake by roots, an experiment was carried out with potted-culture rootstock of Malus hupehensis Rehd under different soil types. The results show that when growing in sandy soil, primary roots of young apple tree are relatively thin and short, with fewer first and second lateral roots that are also thinner and shorter, and fewer fine roots. Conversely, plants growing in organic soil produce primary roots that are relatively thick and long, more first and second lateral roots that are thicker and longer, and more fine roots. Nutrient uptake ability (P, K, Ca, Fe and Zn) are higher for roots produced in sandy soil.
